The Peninsula Big Band is a 14 piece traditional big band formed in 2007 with a blend of professional and experienced regular players all with a love of the big band style. Our gigs range from weddings and dances to charity fund-raisers.

We can tailor our music to suit your needs. Our repertoire includes music from the great bandleaders such as Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey and Count Basie to arrangements of more modern classics from artists such as the Beatles, Sade and Michael Jackson. So should you wish to recreate a classic dance hall evening with waltzes, foxtrots, tangos and cha-chas or add the feel good factor of big band music to your social event the Peninsula Big Band is just what you are looking for.

If you want to know what we sound like here are some brief excerpts from our CD.

Playing in a more contemporary style, two of our members have formed a modern saxophone quartet  ("Mainly Sax"). Please see our web page here for more details.

We predominantly cover the SE of England. If you want to get in touch please see our  Contact Us  page.

Forthcoming events

On Saturday 2nd June 2012, from 8.00 p.m., we will be playing at the Queen's Jubilee Party at the Cliffe Memorial Hall.

We will be playing on the morning of Friday 20th July 2012, to mark the passing of the Olympic Torch through Higham.

Past gigs

Last year we played twice at Woodlands School, Gillingham at a dance evening. The style of the event featured waltzes, foxtrots, tangos, cha-chas and the like. The Woodlands is a great venue for dances: please see their web site for further info.

In addition to this, we did our regular charity event in Gravesend, the charities involved included the Dialysis and Transplant unit, (for which £500 was raised), the Gravesend Lifeboat raising £400, £400 raised for the Lions Hospice and last year £350 for Milton Church tower appeal.

We played our regular Christmas gig at the Memorial Hall, Cliffe on Saturday, 11th December last year. As usual, this had a real seasonal feel to it and got us all in the mood for the festivities.
