Anthony Youngman on trombone

We are a fourteen piece traditional big band, with a five strong sax section, six brass and three piece rhythm section. The band formed some two years ago, mainly from both professional musicians and experienced regular players, all with a love of big band style music.

At that time we played mainly 1930's and 40's numbers, Glenn Miller's "String of Pearls", Tommy Dorsey's "I'm Getting Sentimental Over You" and Count Basie's "Jumping at the Woodside", but we now have an extensive library of over 1000 pieces ranging up to more modern pieces, Buddy Holly, the Beatles and Charlie Barnett's "Skyliner" to name but a few.

If you want to know what we sound like here are some brief excerpts from our CD.

We have played at the Cliffe Fest for the last two years and at the Roffen Club in Rochester.  We are available for weddings and birthdays: please come along to our next gig to have a listen and don't forget your dancing shoes!!!

For the last three years we have played at a local fundraising event. The charities involved have included the Dialysis and Transplant unit, for which £500 was raised. The Gravesend Lifeboat raised  £400, and this year £400 was also raised for the Lions hospice at Gravesend. Details for next year's event will be posted on the site, It will take place in July and will be free of charge. There is a photo of us at last year's event here .

Playing in a more contemporary style, four of our members have formed a modern saxophone quartet  ("Mainly Sax"). Please see our web page here for more details.

We predominantly cover the SE of England. If you want to get in touch please see our  Contact Us  page.
